We intuitively know that’s true and yet those of us involved in NGO work and caring for others so often find it hard to stop to rest and refill. And then we end up feeling worn out, scratchy and irritable, even resentful of the very people we want to care for.

You can’t pour out of an empty cup

We intuitively know that’s true and yet those of us involved in NGO work and caring for others so often find it hard to stop to rest and refill. And then we end up feeling worn out, scratchy and irritable, even resentful of the very people we want to care for.

Refill as you pour out

A different way is possible to have regular rhythms of rest and refilling, so that we can pour out of overflow.

Come and refill

You are invited to take time out, to refill your cup, to rest, refresh, to reconnect with yourself and God. Doing that is not in-fact selfish but enables us to be sustainable and continue to help others.

Hilary runs reflection retreats for individuals, groups and organisations.

With a little input and then plenty of space for alone time, with a sheet of questions to guide reflections.

The needs of the group/individual could be discussed to develop an appropriate retreat.

“I have known Hilary over many years, and in the last 3 years she has facilitated Micah Chapel, the online members’ forum for biblical reflection, prayer and encouragement. Hilary brings professionalism combined with a discerning, pastoral and faith-filled ministry practice. She can work across race, age, culture and denomination and is equally adept at working online and in-person.”

Testimonials

“Hilary has been leading retreats here at Penhurst since 2022 and it is a pleasure to welcome her back each summer. She has led a week’s retreat entitled ‘Refilling Whilst We Pour Out’ and leads with great sensitivity and openness to God being at work.

Feedback from those who attend has been very positive, reflecting Hilary’s awareness of the needs of the participants, her ability to provide space for people to be refreshed, looked after and replenished in their spiritual lives. I would certainly recommend her as a retreat leader to other organisations, she fits in easily to the context of our retreat centre and her retreats are significant for all those who attend.”
